All With Good Intentions

revealed to us by Mr. Shakespeare. His monolog in particular has much merit for me and always wells tears in my eyes when I think on it. He is truly the heart and spirit of the trickster and yet ever as wise as he is foolish. A spirit of jest and of joy, of wondering What if we could make our frivolities but a day dream… and create for ourselves absolution for our failings among our fellow man.
In the end we have to remember all the intents no matter how strange, how deep or how sorrowful they were also probably done with good intentions.
Perhaps it was the good intentions of my family pediatrician that caused him to check me for hernias when I came to see him about a complaint for a common cold. I want to believe that he knew what he was doing but I always had the sneaking suspicion that he was just an old pervert that liked to grasp young boys’ genitals.
I want to believe it was for reasons with good intentions when we went to war in Iraq, or when people protest in front of abortion clinics, or when we stop allowing kids to come to school with body piercings.
It all begins with good intentions and then comes misunderstandings, foibles, morality issues, religious issues, Jihads, Wars on Terror, Britney’s latest tragedy, etc.
I want to believe that the many citizens of our planet earth are fed up with petty tyrants of all shapes and sizes, especially with our own. I want to believe that we are fed up with rehashed stories with a hip new cast of the same old stereotype characters on slicker magazine covers.
Sadly I know the truth; I imagine you probably figured it out as well.
The world is full of good intentions.
A pocketful of good intentions and 75 cents will still buy you a doughnut down at the Krispy Kreme, It’s a good thing there is one place you can still go that understands honest good intentions.
